Membership in AAUW is open to graduates holding an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate, or higher degree from qualified educational institutions. An associate degree includes associate of arts (AA), associate of science (AS), associate of applied science (AAS), associate of arts and sciences (AA&S), and associate of applied of arts (AAA). The equivalent of an associate degree is an academic degree or diploma awarded by an institution such as a business school or hospital.
There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.
Member Benefits include a voice in government. AAUW is a powerful network of over 100,000 members. The AAUW Capitol Hill Lobby Corps makes more than one thousand visits to the hill each year and provides all members guidance and issue information to commuinicate with their leaders in Congress.

The meetings offer a wide range of workshops on wide range of subjects, business meetings, banquets and time for fun. The national website www.aauw.org has huge array of leadership tools.
Access to fellowships, grants and awards via the Educational Foundation. The Foundation is at the forefront of research on gender equity issues that pertain to education and the workplace. Salem’s Chemeketa Community College was featured in 2006’s sexual harassment campus survey action project.

Salem Branch holds monthly educational meetings open to the public and enjoys small study or ‘interest” groups where learning and friendships grow. Topics include literature, cooking and eating, movie matinees, and Great Decisions.
